Betis nearly pulled off a surprise by taking the lead in the 25th minute. In a game where they had to chase the score, Real Madrid brilliantly scored two goals to come from behind and win. The highlight was Sergio Ramos's powerful header that sealed the 2-1 victory for the home team.

The victory against Betis meant Real Madrid capitalized on a slip-up by their arch-rivals Barcelona. After round 27, the "White Eagles" reclaimed the top spot with 62 points. Barcelona dropped to second place, having played one more game. If Real Madrid win against Celta Vigo in their rescheduled match, they will extend their lead to five points.

If Real had avoided rushing into the game, they could have beaten Betis more easily. The home team surged forward from the opening minutes and squandered a series of attacking opportunities. Ronaldo missed a shot from a tight angle, while James and Isco both had long-range shots that went wide of the goal.

Real's relentless attacking also left many gaps for Betis. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the visitors pressed back from the 15th minute and scored the opening goal. In the 25th minute, Antonio Sarabia's shot from 15 meters out caused goalkeeper Keylor Navas to panic and push the ball into his own net.

Navas made a rare mistake with a careless handling of the ball.

Only after receiving a "cold shower" did Real play more calmly. From the middle of the second half, the home team continuously controlled the ball and gave Betis almost no chance to retaliate. In the 41st minute, after many attempts to press forward, Real finally scored the equalizer. Marcelo made a crucial contribution with a perfect cross that allowed Ronaldo to head the ball into the net.

The second half unfolded similarly to the first 45 minutes. Betis proved to be a tough opponent, constantly capitalizing on counter-attacks towards Real's goal. Meanwhile, due to their eagerness to win, the home team often made inaccurate passes.

Things only improved for Real after Betis lost Cristiano Picini in the 78th minute (after receiving a second yellow card). Three minutes after this incident, Real scored the winning goal, making it 2-1. Ramos, as always, correctly anticipated the ball's trajectory and headed it accurately from Kroos' corner kick to score the decisive goal.
