Goals: Ronaldo 41', Ramos 81' - Navas own goal 25'
Betis almost caused a surprise when they took the lead in the 25th minute. In a game of chase, Real scored two goals to win the match. The highlight of this was Sergio Ramos's powerful header that helped the home team seal the score at 2-1.
The win over Betis means Real took advantage of a stumble by their arch-rivals Barca. After round 27, the "white vultures" have regained the lead with 62 points. Barca have dropped to second place, and have played one more game. If they win against Celta Vigo in the make-up match, Real will widen the gap to five points.

If they had avoided the rush of the start, Real could have won Betis more easily. The home side rushed forward from the start and wasted a series of attacking opportunities. Ronaldo missed a shot from a tight angle, while James and Isco both had long-range shots wide of the target.
The rush to attack also left Real with many gaps for Betis. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the visitors put pressure back from the 15th minute and scored the opening goal. When the match entered the 25th minute, Antonio Sarabia made a tap-in from 15 meters, causing goalkeeper Keylor Navas to fumble and push the ball into his own net.

Only after receiving the "cold water" did Real play more calmly. From the middle of the second half, the home team continuously controlled the ball and almost did not give Betis a chance to respond. In the 41st minute, after many efforts to press the field, Real finally had an equalizer. Marcelo left an important mark when he crossed the ball like a set piece for Ronaldo to head in.
The second half was somewhat similar to what happened in the first 45 minutes. Betis proved to be a difficult opponent when they continuously took advantage of counter-attack opportunities towards Real's goal. Meanwhile, due to their haste to win, the home team often handled the game inaccurately.
Things only got better for Real after Betis lost Cristiano Picini in the 78th minute (receiving a second yellow card). Three minutes after this incident, Real scored the winning goal 2-1. Ramos guessed the right spot as usual, thereby accurately heading Kroos' corner kick to score the decisive goal.
