At around 5:00 p.m. on October 16, 2016, at the mining site of Hai Ha Private Enterprise, located in Chau Quang Commune (Quy Hop District), a mining site collapsed, killing 3 people on the spot and seriously injuring 1 person.
The victims were Mr. Luong Van Huong (born in 1982, residing in Quang Huong hamlet, Chau Quang commune) and 2 others from Chau Cuong commune, both residing in Quy Hop district (Nghe An).
The quarry of Hai Ha private enterprise was newly licensed for exploration with the license period from May 6, 2015 to May 6, 2016, which means the license had expired at the time of the accident.
2. Illegal mining, rock crushed 2 people to death in Tan Ky

On May 5, 2013, at Len Roi quarry in Ky Tan commune (Tan Ky district), a tragic accident occurred, killing two victims, Le Van Tro and Nguyen Van Quang (residents of hamlet 2, Ky Tan commune).
The Len Roi quarry was licensed by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee to Kieu Phuong Company Limited and its exploitation license expired in 2008. However, the company still secretly let people in to exploit and sell to customers.
Nghe An Provincial Police Department has prosecuted Nguyen Thi Thuy, residing in Tan Ky town, for violating regulations on resource exploitation, causing serious consequences.
3. Gold mine collapses in Xiangyang, 3 people crushed to death

At noon on July 17, 2012, a group of people in Nga My commune (Tuong Duong district) were illegally digging for gold when the tunnel suddenly collapsed. Three gold miners, Lo Van Hoa (38 years old), Lo Van Tu (24 years old, son-in-law of Mr. Hoa) and Vi Van Ca (18 years old) died right in the tunnel, 7 people were injured.
The cause was that gold diggers dug holes in the weak ground, causing the tunnel to collapse.
The area where the accident occurred was an illegal gold mining site. The miners who had the accident had been fined and suspended twice by local authorities, but they continued to operate illegally.
4. Len Co quarry collapse, 18 people died

At around 7:30 a.m. on April 1, 2011, nearly 40 people were mining stone at the Len Co quarry (in Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh) when a mine collapse suddenly occurred. Some people were able to escape in time, while 24 others were buried, of which 18 died and 6 were injured.
This quarry was licensed to Chin Men Company Limited, with Mr. Phan Van Chin as director. The police investigation agency prosecuted, temporarily detained and brought to trial the quarry owner Phan Cong Chin for irresponsible behavior causing serious consequences.
The initial cause of the quarry collapse was due to the mining unit's poor technique, causing the base to be hollow and the "frog's mouth" to open. In addition, the blasting and rain caused the rock on top to collapse, causing the tragic accident.
