On the morning of March 22, a stampede at a Chinese primary school resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to 20 others.

According to Xinhua News Agency, students at Experimental Primary School No. 3 in Puyang (Henan Province) crowded the restrooms on the morning of March 22nd. The area was already crowded, and many students pushed and shoved outside to get inside, resulting in the deaths of two children and injuries to 20 others.

Another report stated that the toilet wall collapsed due to the pressure of the jostling. However, on social media, one parent argued that the toilet's collapse was what caused the students to panic.

All the injured students have been taken to the hospital, some in serious condition.

Responding to the Associated Press, the Puyang authorities said the incident was under investigation but declined to provide further details.

Similar incidents have occurred in China. In 2014, a stampede on a staircase at a school in southwestern China resulted in the deaths of six children and injuries to 25 others.
