Actor reveals first information about blockbuster 'Avatar'

Actor Sam Worthington revealed that the sequel to “Avatar” (2009) will explore the love story of Jake and Neytiri’s family, and take the main character to a new land.

In an interview with We Got This Covered, Sam Worthington provided new information about Avatar 2 - the blockbuster that is about to start filming this summer by director James Cameron.

Eight years ago, the British actor played the lead role of Jake Sully in part one and his character continues to be the focus of the new project.

First, Worthington once again confirmed the plan to shoot Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 at the same time, something director James Cameron recently announced.

“We will be shooting multiple Avatar sequels simultaneously. Of course, there will be a short break between each one. We plan to start working this summer.”

The reason why audiences have to wait so long for Avatar 2 is because James Cameron is a perfectionist. “He still needs time to complete the script. I have read the previous versions of the script for Avatar 2. They are all great,” said Sam Worthington.

Like in real life, Avatar 2 takes place about 8 years after the events of Avatar. “At this point, Jake Sully has a family. The world in the movie will be open, but at its core, this is a work with a family theme. There are still many things on Pandora that make Jake feel overwhelmed and want to explore, even though he has lived there for 8 years,” the actor commented.

Previously, in an interview with The Daily Beast, James Cameron confirmed that he was working on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 at the same time and had just completed the script for the fifth installment.

He compared the time spent building the story to being “locked in a cage” and the upcoming filming period would help him feel relieved.

In addition to Sam Worthington, Avatar 2 also features returning stars Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Sigorney Weaver. Fox released the film in December 2018. Avatar 3, 4, and 5 are scheduled to be released in late 2020, 2022, and 2023.
