Actors reveal first details about the blockbuster 'Avatar'.
Actor Sam Worthington revealed that the sequel to "Avatar" (2009) will explore the family bond between Jake and Neytiri, while also taking the main characters to a new land.
In an interview with We Got This Covered, Sam Worthington shared new information about Avatar 2 - the blockbuster film directed by James Cameron, which is scheduled to begin filming this summer.
Eight years ago, the British actor played the lead role of Jake Sully in the first film, and his character continues to be the focus of this new project.

First, Worthington reiterated the plan to film Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 simultaneously, something director James Cameron recently announced.
“We will be filming several sequels to Avatar simultaneously. Of course, there will need to be short breaks for the crew between the parts. We plan to start working on them this summer.”
The reason audiences have had to wait so long for Avatar 2 is because James Cameron is a perfectionist. “He still needs time to finalize the script. I’ve read previous versions of the script for Avatar 2. They were all great,” said Sam Worthington.
Just like in real life, Avatar 2 takes place about eight years after the events of Avatar. “By this time, Jake Sully has a family. The world in the film will be much larger, but essentially, it’s a family-themed film. There’s still so much on Pandora that Jake finds overwhelming and wants to explore, even though he’s lived there for eight years,” the actor commented.

Previously, in an interview with The Daily Beast, James Cameron confirmed that he was working on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 simultaneously and had just completed the script for the fifth installment.
He compared the time spent developing the story to "being locked in a cage," and said the upcoming filming period would help him feel relieved.
Besides Sam Worthington, Avatar 2 also features the return of stars Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Sigorney Weaver. Fox released the film in December 2018. Avatar 3, 4, and 5 are then scheduled for release in late 2020, 2022, and 2023, respectively.
