Two fishermen were injured or killed when the fishing net winch cable snapped.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 21, information from the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard Command, indicated that a fishing net winch cable had broken at sea, resulting in the death of one fisherman and injury to another.
According to information, at approximately 1:00 AM on March 21st, the fishing vessel NA 90615 TS, captained by Mr. Ho Van Tam (born in 1971), residing in Minh Son hamlet, Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, along with 18 crew members, was fishing at coordinates 18.o47'N - 106o30'E.

While the fishermen were winching their nets, the winch cable suddenly snapped, striking two crew members on the boat: Nguyen Van Lai (born in 1985, residing in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district) and Tran Dinh Cuong (born in 1981, residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district). The accident resulted in Lai's immediate death and Cuong sustaining serious injuries.
Immediately after the incident, the ship's captain quickly contacted the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station and turned the ship around to head back to shore. Upon receiving the report, the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station dispatched a speedboat with three soldiers to the rescue. By 8:30 AM the same day, the boat had docked, and Mr. Cuong was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Mr. Lai's body was also handed over to his relatives for burial.

Previously, on March 17th, while fishing at sea, a fishing boat captained by Tran Van Loi (born in 1989, residing in Cong Hoa village, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district) also suffered a cable break, resulting in the death of crew member Tran Quang Lanh (born in 1982, residing in Cong Hoa village, Quynh Long commune) and injuries to three others.
