(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 21, information from Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard said that an accident had just occurred where a winch cable broke at sea, killing one fisherman and injuring another.

According to information, at about 1:00 a.m. on March 21, fishing boat NA 90615 TS, captained by Mr. Ho Van Tam (born in 1971), residing in Minh Son hamlet, Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, with 18 crew members, was fishing at coordinates 18^o47'N - 106^o30'E.

While the fishermen were winching up their nets, the winch cable suddenly broke and hit two crew members on the boat, Mr. Nguyen Van Lai (born in 1985, residing in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district) and Mr. Tran Dinh Cuong (born in 1981, residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district). The accident caused Mr. Lai to die on the spot and Mr. Cuong to be seriously injured.

Immediately after the incident, the ship captain quickly called the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station and turned the ship back to the mainland. Upon receiving the news, the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station sent a canoe and 3 soldiers to rescue. At 8:30 a.m. the same day, the ship docked and took Mr. Cuong to the hospital for emergency treatment. Mr. Lai's body was also handed over to his relatives to take home for burial.

Previously, on March 17, while fishing at sea, the fishing boat captained by Tran Van Loi (born in 1989, residing in Cong Hoa village, Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district) also had its cable broken, killing crew member Tran Quang Lanh (born in 1982, residing in Cong Hoa village, Quynh Long commune) on the spot and injuring 3 others.
