This victory helped PSG surpass Nice to take the 2nd place in the rankings. Coach Unai Emery's team is now 3 points behind AS Monaco, the leader of the table. In the context of Ligue 1 with 6 more rounds to go, the race to the championship promises to be very attractive because the points of the 3 leading teams are only 3 and 4 points different.

Back at the Parc des Princes, PSG dominated after the referee's whistle, but played very boring football. Sky Sports even described the home team as having a better start than their opponents, but their speed was like "walking people". This explains why PSG created a few chances, but no goals were scored.

However, after the break, PSG exploded. The South American stars of Angel di Maria, Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura began to stir up the game and put the opponent under intense pressure. The Ligue 1 champions were rewarded for their efforts with 4 goals scored by Di Maria, Cavani (double) and Matuidi.

After the match, PSG coach Unai Emery revealed the secret to helping his team play explosively after the break, he said: "At half-time, we discussed improving our performance, exploiting the gaps on the pitch and placing more players in front of the goal.

The first goal was the key to solving the problem, giving us confidence. It can be said that this is a very important victory for PSG in the context that Monaco and Nice both won this series of matches."
