This victory allowed PSG to overtake Nice for second place in the standings. Unai Emery's team is now 3 points behind AS Monaco, the league leaders. With only 6 rounds remaining in Ligue 1, the title race promises to be very exciting, as the top 3 teams are separated by only 3 and 4 points respectively.
Returning to the match at the Parc des Princes, PSG dominated from the referee's whistle, but played very boring football. Sky Sports even described the home team as having a superior start, but their pace was like "walking people". This explains why PSG created several chances, but no goals were scored.
However, after the break, PSG played brilliantly. The South American stars, including Angel di Maria, Edinson Cavani, and Lucas Moura, began to stir up the game and put intense pressure on their opponents. The reigning Ligue 1 champions were rewarded for their efforts with four goals scored by Di Maria, Cavani (a brace), and Matuidi.

After the match, PSG coach Unai Emery revealed the secret to his team's explosive performance after the break, saying: "At halftime, we discussed improving our performance, exploiting the spaces on the pitch and deploying more players in front of the goal."
The first goal was key to breaking the deadlock and giving us confidence. It's safe to say this was a very important victory for PSG, especially considering Monaco and Nice both won their matches in this round."
