Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned the Ministry of Public Security to resolutely revoke the 80A and 80B license plates of 516 vehicles that had been issued to businesses, with the deadline to complete this task before June 30 this year. The Prime Minister also directed that the 80 license plates should absolutely not be issued to businesses, regardless of their type.

Thủ tướng yêu cầu Bộ Công an nghiêm túc thực hiện việc cấp biển số ô tô ký hiệu 80 theo nguyên tắc chỉ cấp cho các cơ quan Trung ương, một số ban, bộ, ngành.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to seriously implement the issuance of car license plates with code 80 according to the principle of only issuing them to central agencies and a number of departments, ministries and branches.
According to information from the Government Electronic Information Portal, the Government Office has just issued a document conveying the direction of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the registration and issuance of license plates 80A and 80B for business vehicles.

Specifically, based on the report of the Ministry of Public Security, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to seriously implement the issuance of car license plates with code 80 according to the principle of only issuing them to central agencies, some departments, ministries, and branches...

The directive clearly states that vehicles with license plate number 80 must be purchased from the state budget. The Prime Minister emphasized that license plates with the code 80 will absolutely not be issued to businesses, regardless of their type.

In this spirit, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to urgently amend Circular No. 15/2014/TT-BCA dated April 4, 2014 regulating vehicle registration.

Regarding the solution for vehicles with license plates 80A and 80B that were issued to businesses in the past, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Public Security to resolutely revoke the license plates of 516 vehicles in this category, to be completed before June 30, 2017, and report the results to the Prime Minister.

Previously, in early February, when the press reported that the issuance of blue license plates with the symbols 80A and 80B to businesses was not transparent, causing a series of cars with "huge" license plates that far exceeded the actual numbers being issued, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Ministry of Public Security to report on this matter.

The Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Justice to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies to inspect and review regulations on the implementation of registration and issuance of license plates for cars and motorbikes; if any inadequacies are discovered, they should be proposed for amendments and supplements to ensure strictness and objectivity.
