The Prime Minister ordered the revocation of 516 license plates with the prefixes 80A and 80B that had been issued to businesses.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc instructed the Ministry of Public Security to resolutely revoke the 80A and 80B license plates of 516 vehicles that had been issued to businesses, with a deadline of June 30th this year. The Prime Minister also directed that absolutely no 80 license plates should be issued to businesses, regardless of their type.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Public Security to strictly implement the issuance of license plates with the prefix 80, adhering to the principle that they should only be issued to central government agencies and certain ministries and departments.

Specifically, based on the report from the Ministry of Public Security, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to strictly implement the issuance of license plates with the symbol 80 according to the principle of only issuing them to central agencies, certain ministries, departments, etc.

The directive clearly states that vehicles issued with license plates numbered 80 must be purchased using state budget funds. The Prime Minister emphasized that license plates numbered 80 will absolutely not be issued to businesses, regardless of their type.

In this spirit, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to urgently amend Circular No. 15/2014/TT-BCA dated April 4, 2014, regulating vehicle registration.

Regarding the solution for vehicles bearing license plates 80A and 80B that were issued to businesses in the past period, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Public Security to resolutely revoke the license plates of 516 vehicles in this category, completing the process before June 30, 2017, and reporting the results to the Prime Minister.

Earlier this month, in early February, following press reports reflecting the lack of transparency in issuing blue license plates with the prefixes 80A and 80B to businesses, resulting in a series of vehicles bearing "extraordinary" license plates far exceeding the actual numbering system, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested the Ministry of Public Security to report on the matter.

The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Justice to take the lead, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security and other relevant agencies, in inspecting and reviewing regulations on the registration and issuance of license plates for automobiles and motorcycles; if any inadequacies are found, to propose amendments and additions to ensure strictness and objectivity.
