According to seafood traders in Ho Chi Minh City, the 170 kg grouper is the largest grouper ever imported to Ho Chi Minh City.
Saltwater fish are large in size, and the journey from capture to transport hundreds of kilometers is often very difficult. Keeping the fish alive is very rare.
The giant grouper, scientifically known as Epinephelus lanceolatus, is the largest bony fish found on coral reefs. It lives throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans, except the Persian Gulf. It lives in shallow waters and feeds on a variety of marine life, including small sharks and small sea turtles.
