(Baonghean.vn) - The structure of rural occupations has shifted in a positive direction, increasing the number and proportion of agricultural, forestry and fishery households - these are the basic assessments after the 2016 rural, agricultural and fishery census in Nghe An province.

On the afternoon of March 23, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2016 rural, agricultural and fishery census. Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the conference.

The 2016 Rural, Agricultural and Fishery Census collects basic information on agriculture, forestry, salt production, fisheries and rural areas to serve the development of plans and strategies for agricultural and rural development.

This is also an opportunity to evaluate the implementation results of some contents of the national target programs on industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas and building new rural areas, and at the same time build data on agriculture and rural areas to serve in-depth research and sample selection for some surveys and other statistical requirements.

The content of the General Census focuses on the following areas: Information group on the current status of agricultural production; information group on rural areas; information group on rural residents.

The total number of rural, agricultural and fishery households in the province as of July 1, 2016 was 693,991 households, of which 668,214 households were in rural areas. The structure of occupations in rural areas has changed rapidly in a positive direction: The number and proportion of agricultural, forestry and fishery households have decreased; the number and proportion of industrial and service households have increased. The total number of agricultural, forestry and fishery households in rural areas is 440,710 households, accounting for 66% of the total number of households; the number of industrial and service households is 175,913 households; the proportion of both industrial, construction and service households has increased by 5.4%.

According to the assessment, the shift in rural household structure in the whole province during the period 2011-2016 took place faster and more clearly than in previous periods.

Concluding the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong acknowledged the efforts of all levels and sectors in closely following the instructions, plans and directive documents to implement the General Census. The quality of the survey forms has been improved compared to previous surveys. The investigators directly investigated households and administrative procedures; 100% of the districts have implemented the regime of quick reporting, preliminary reporting, and reporting on the progress of the General Census implementation on time and in the prescribed form.

At the same time, the Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Rural, Agricultural and Fishery Investigation also pointed out some lessons learned such as: Must concentrate all resources, support from Party committees and authorities, drastic participation of the entire political system; strictly direct and deploy all stages according to the proposed plan and schedule.

At the conference, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 groups and 9 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the 2016 Rural, Agricultural and Fishery Census./.
