(Baonghean.vn) - Mantis shrimp, stone crab, mussels... are some of the seafood items attracting tourists to Quynh Luu beach. During holidays, seafood even sells out due to increased demand from locals.

This year's tourist season has seen a dramatic increase in the number of visitors to the beaches in Quynh Luu district compared to previous years. Many guesthouses and hotels are fully booked; beachfront restaurants are operating at full capacity.

Ms. Ho Thi Hien, owner of Hai Hien restaurant in Quynh Nghia commune, said that this year the number of visitors coming to swim and enjoy seafood is very high, both on holidays and weekdays. Besides two chefs and three helpers, we had to mobilize three more workers to meet the demand. On weekends, the restaurant prepares about 200 kg of mantis shrimp, crabs, stone crabs, herring, clams, etc., for customers.

Seafood from Quynh Bay is fresh and delicious because it is harvested in offshore waters; fishing boats with engines from 20 to under 90 horsepower usually go out to fish during the day, after which the seafood is purchased by restaurants and aquaculture facilities to supply the market. Due to the nature of seafood species such as crabs, lobsters, mantis shrimp, grouper, clams, and mussels living in offshore waters, only boats that live near the shore can "hunt" for them.

With four tanks for preserving seafood, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, owner of Phuong Hang restaurant, regularly purchases seafood from near-shore fishing boats and stores it in the tanks. Currently, it's the tourist season, so each day her establishment buys an additional 20 kg of mantis shrimp (depending on the quantity), 7-10 kg of abalone, and dozens of kilograms of sea scallops and clams... to put into the aerated tanks for preservation.

This year, the number of tourists coming to swim and eat has increased dramatically, so Ms. Hang's establishment has proactively stocked up on seafood kept in tanks.
