Yen Thanh: Do not allow the situation of "protection" and "brokering" of harvesters to occur

Farmers in Yen Thanh district are preparing to go to the fields to harvest the 2017 Spring rice crop. One of the concerns of Yen Thanh district is to ensure security and order during the rice harvest, creating favorable conditions for farmers to harvest rice smoothly.

Mr. Nguyen Vuong Ngoc - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said: In early May, the District People's Committee issued Document No. 460/UBND.NN on ensuring security in the 2017 Spring rice harvest. Accordingly, the District People's Committee assigned communes to propagate, mobilize, and recommend people to apply mechanization in rice harvesting, speed up the harvesting progress and free up land for late-autumn crop cultivation.

Agricultural cooperatives, based on the area and rice fields of the hamlets, sign contracts with machine owners according to specific harvesting locations, at suitable prices, and harvest the entire area, preventing unhealthy competition between machine owners.

The district police assigned officers to monitor the area, coordinate with the police of communes and towns, collect information, and if any "protection" phenomenon is discovered in rice harvesting and land preparation, it will be handled according to the provisions of the law.

Director of Hoa Thanh Agricultural Cooperative - Hoa Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh) Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trieu said: Implementing the direction of the District People's Committee, based on the rice area of ​​the whole commune of nearly 200 hectares, the Cooperative has so far signed contracts with 13 harvester owners in Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh to harvest rice for the people in the commune. According to the contract, before putting the machine into operation, the machine owner pays a fee of 1.5 million VND to the Cooperative to repair bridges, roads in the fields after harvesting and pays a deposit of 3 million VND/machine (after the harvest is completed, the Cooperative will return the deposit to the machine owner). Accordingly, the machine owner is responsible for harvesting the entire rice area of ​​the people; the agreed price for harvesting rice is 160,000 VND/sao of dry fields, 180,000 VND/sao of deep fields.

This spring crop, Yen Thanh district has more than 12,800 hectares of rice, with an estimated average rice yield of nearly 7 tons/ha. From May 10, Yen Thanh farmers will go to the fields to harvest rice en masse./.
