This is an activity within the program “Socializing public toilets” to encourage businesses, agencies, cafes, hotels, etc. in Hue City to allow tourists and residents to use existing free toilets at their facilities to solve their “sensitive” needs.
After a short time of implementation, this program has received positive responses from local people as well as domestic and foreign tourists when coming to Hue.
Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien - Hue province (co-organizer), said that there are currently more than 50 units including agencies, hotels, cafes, etc. in Hue city participating in posting "free toilet" signs to serve the needs of tourists and residents.
Among them are 3 state offices: Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Culture and Hue City People's Committee.
The number is expected to increase in the coming time. The establishments participating in posting “free toilet” signs are mainly concentrated on central streets of Hue City such as Hung Vuong, Le Loi, Nguyen Cong Tru… where many tourists gather.
“The operating costs of these free toilets are all decided by the units themselves. We only support a small part to make “free toilet” signs and install them at participating facilities,” said Mr. Dinh.
