This activity is part of the "Socialization of Public Toilets" program, which aims to encourage businesses, agencies, cafes, hotels, etc., in Hue City to allow tourists and residents to use the existing free toilets at their establishments to address their "sensitive" needs.
After a short period of implementation, this program has received a positive response from both local people and domestic and international tourists visiting Hue.
Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien Hue province (co-organizing unit), said that currently more than 50 units including agencies, hotels, cafes, etc. in Hue City have participated in displaying "free toilets" signs to serve the needs of tourists and residents.
Among them are three state-owned offices: the Department of Planning and Investment, the Department of Culture, and the People's Committee of Hue City.
This number is expected to increase further in the future. The establishments participating in displaying the "free toilet" sign are mainly concentrated on central streets in Hue City such as Hung Vuong, Le Loi, Nguyen Cong Tru, etc., where there is a high concentration of tourists.
"The operating costs of these free toilets are determined by the participating units themselves. We only provide a small portion of the funding to create 'free toilet' signs and install them at the participating facilities," Mr. Dinh said.
