North Korea possesses an extremely powerful fleet of aircraft.
North Korea currently possesses up to 1,000 drones, which are used for espionage or carrying out attacks, a South Korean state organization revealed.
DailyMail, citing a report by Chung Ku-youn, a researcher at the Korea National Unification Institute, said that Pyongyang is focusing on developing drones to supplement its weak air force and enhance its reconnaissance capabilities.

The report also stated that North Korea's air force is weaker than South Korea's. Furthermore, due to North Korea's lack of military satellites, Pyongyang faces significant difficulties in spying on Seoul.
Chung warned that North Korea could use drones to attack by loading them with biological and chemical weapons before launching them. A 2016 report by the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis indicated that Pyongyang is believed to possess up to 25 chemical weapons and 13 types of pathogens that could be used as biological weapons.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is believed to have ordered the development of various types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The program, codenamed Banghyun, began in the early 1990s, according to Yonhap news agency.
North Korean drones can reach speeds of 160 km/h and carry payloads of 20-24 kg.
