Japan ends Thailand's World Cup dream
Japan easily defeated Thailand with a score of 4-0 to climb to the top of Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Asia, officially ending the chance of the number 1 representative of Southeast Asia to continue.
Shinji Kagawa opened the scoring after just eight minutes before striker Shinji Okazaki doubled the lead 11 minutes later. Yuya Kubo added the third in the 57th minute before Maya Yoshida headed home the winner.

The win gives Japan 16 points from seven matches, three points ahead of second-placed Saudi Arabia, who will play Iraq early tomorrow morning.

The defeat in Japan, combined with Australia's 2-0 victory over the UAE, officially ended Kiatisuk Senamuang and his team's chances of securing a place in the play-off round.
