A model parishioner of Dong Tam parish who excels in business.

(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Pham Van Luyen, from Dong Tam parish, Nghia An commune, Nghia Dan district, is a successful farmer and a shining example of solidarity between Catholics and non-Catholics, actively participating in patriotic emulation movements.

The movement "All people unite to build a cultured life in residential areas, living a good and virtuous life" in Nghia Dan has produced many exemplary individuals and good deeds, including Mr. Pham Van Luyen from Hamlet 10B, Dong Tam Parish, Nghia An Commune.

In his economic development, Mr. Luyen diligently invested in dairy farming. He borrowed over 200 million VND from the bank to raise 10 dairy cows. Currently, 5 cows in his barn are producing milk, averaging over 80 liters per day; at a price of 12,000 VND/liter, after deducting expenses, he earns a profit of nearly 1 million VND.

“In the early days of raising dairy cows, it was difficult because I lacked experience and techniques, but I gradually learned and got used to it. The important thing is to ensure the cows receive adequate nutrition, maintain hygiene regularly, and provide complete vaccinations… To raise dairy cows effectively, the barn must be well-ventilated, clean, and have a waste disposal area to reduce environmental pollution; buy breeding cows from reputable farms, especially breeds that are adapted to the local climate, and always have a sufficient food supply for the cows," Mr. Luyen shared.

To ensure cost-effectiveness and milk quality, in addition to fresh grass, he also feeds his cows supplementary feed such as whole corn stalks, rice bran, and other by-products. On average, each dairy cow consumes 10kg of supplementary feed and 20kg of fresh grass per day.

Besides helping the local people develop economically, he has also made significant contributions to advancing all movements in Dong Tam parish. He regularly promotes and encourages his family members and neighbors to live and work in accordance with the constitution and laws, to abide by the village's customs and regulations, to live virtuous lives, to respect God and love the country, to always cultivate a pioneering spirit in labor and production, to build unity between Catholics and non-Catholics, and to call on everyone to join hands in building a New Rural Area.

He encouraged the people in the neighborhood to actively participate in contributing to funds and charitable activities to support the poor, families entitled to preferential policies, students in difficult circumstances, and donations launched by various associations.

In neighborhood meetings and community gatherings, he consistently makes constructive contributions, earning high respect from the community. He actively participates in patriotic emulation movements launched by the Fatherland Front at all levels and the local authorities, such as the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life in Residential Areas" campaign and the "Living a Good Life, Upholding Moral Values" campaign among Catholics, initiated by the Catholic Solidarity Committee. He is trusted and loved by the Catholic community.

Speaking about Catholic parishioner Pham Van Luyen, Ms. Vo Thi Huyen - Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghia An commune, said: “In economic development, his family is one of the households that rose from nothing to become wealthy. Especially in the new rural development movement, he, along with the leadership committees of hamlets 10A and 10B, mobilized people to donate land and contribute money to build rural roads. To date, hamlet 10B has completed 12 out of 19 criteria, and it is expected that the hamlet will achieve the new rural development goal by early 2019.”

Recently, he was honored to be selected as one of 11 delegates, representing over 350 parishioners of Dong Tam parish, to participate in the 7th Congress of Catholic Delegates for Building and Defending the Fatherland in Nghia Dan District, term 2017-2022.
