Localities commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs.

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 20th, localities organized rallies to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs.(27/7/1947 - 27/7/2017)and commend outstanding role models.

Throughout the wars of resistance against foreign invaders to protect the Fatherland, the land of Do Luong was both a key target of fierce enemy attacks and contributed to supporting the front lines in fighting the enemy. Tens of thousands of its people participated in combat and served in combat; with nearly 1,500 joining the Youth Volunteer Force, and 13,800 joining the frontline militia and guerrilla militia.

During that fierce resistance war, Do Luong district lost 4,100 people, 3,448 were wounded, 1,414 were sick, and 1,200 were exposed to chemical toxins.

With a spirit of heroic struggle to regain national independence and freedom and the happiness of the people, over the past few decades, Do Luong district has had nearly 30,000 people awarded various medals and decorations; 18 communes have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State; and 261 mothers have been posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother.

Over the years, Do Luong has consistently taken care of implementing policies and regulations for wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and those who have contributed to the revolution; building hundreds of houses of gratitude worth tens of billions of dong. Each year, it donates thousands of gifts to policy beneficiary families, provides care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and distributes tens of thousands of savings accounts.

On this occasion, the district leaders presented gifts to the heroic Vietnamese mothers; and awarded certificates of merit and gifts to 66 outstanding individuals who have achieved excellent results in the "Gratitude and Repayment" work.

* Upholding the traditional moral principle of "drinking water and remembering the source," from 2013 to the present,Tan KyThey have mobilized 270,000 individuals and organizations, raising 3.525 billion VND to carry out gratitude and remembrance activities.

This includes supporting the construction and renovation of 15 houses for needy families, valued at 750 million VND; donating savings accounts to 500 individuals, totaling 500 million VND; and constructing and renovating cemeteries and memorials, as well as visiting Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, with a total value of 2.275 billion VND.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Tan Ky district presented a banner from the District Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee and three savings accounts from the Tan Ky District Social Policy Bank, each worth 5 million VND, to the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers: Lo Thi Cau, Lo Thi Inh, and Pham Thi Phi.

Thaco Van Minh Co., Ltd. donated 20 million VND, and Hoang Nguyen Brick and Tile Manufacturing Company donated 40 million VND to support house repairs for war invalids in difficult circumstances and for relatives of martyrs. Song Con Sugar Corporation donated 6 savings accounts to 6 relatives of martyrs, with a total amount of 30 million VND.

On this occasion, 3 collectives and 39 individuals were awarded Certificates of Commendation by the Chairman of the Tan Ky District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the work of showing gratitude and appreciation; these individuals are exemplary war invalids, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs in the district.
