Localities celebrate 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 20, localities held rallies to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.(27/7/1947 - 27/7/2017)and commend advanced models.

Through the resistance wars against foreign invaders to protect the Fatherland, Do Luong land was both the focus of fierce attacks by the enemy and contributed to supporting the frontline to fight the enemy. Tens of thousands of people participated in fighting and serving in combat; with nearly 1,500 people participating in the Youth Volunteer Force, 13,800 people participating in the frontline militia and guerrillas.

During that fierce resistance war, Do Luong district had 4,100 people fall, 3,448 wounded soldiers, 1,414 sick soldiers and 1,200 infected with toxic chemicals.

With the heroic fighting spirit to regain independence and freedom for the nation and happiness for the people, over the past decades, Do Luong district has had nearly 30 thousand people awarded Orders and Medals of various types; 18 communes were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State; 261 mothers were posthumously awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother.

Over the years, Do Luong has regularly taken care of implementing policies for war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and those who have contributed to the revolution; built hundreds of gratitude houses worth tens of billions of VND. Every year, thousands of gifts are given to families with preferential policies, taken care of heroic Vietnamese mothers and given tens of thousands of savings books.

On this occasion, the district leaders presented gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers; awarded certificates of merit and gifts to 66 typical examples with outstanding achievements in the work of "Repaying gratitude".

* Promoting the traditional morality of "drinking water thanks to its source", from 2013 to present,Tan Kymobilized 270,000 individuals and groups, raising 3 billion 525 million VND to carry out gratitude work.

Of which, support for the construction and renovation of 15 gratitude houses with a value of 750 million VND, giving savings books to 500 individuals with an amount of 500 million VND, building and renovating cemeteries, memorials and visiting Vietnamese Heroic Mothers with a total value of 2 billion 275 million VND.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Tan Ky district presented a banner of the District Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee and presented 3 savings books of the Tan Ky District Social Policy Bank, each worth 5 million VND, to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers: Lo Thi Cau, Lo Thi Inh and Pham Thi Phi.

Thaco Van Minh Company Limited donated 20 million VND, Hoang Nguyen Brick and Tile Manufacturing Company donated 40 million VND to support house repairs for war invalids in difficult circumstances, and for relatives of martyrs. Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company donated 6 savings books to 6 relatives of martyrs, with a total amount of 30 million VND.

On this occasion, 3 collectives and 39 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in gratitude work; individuals who are typical war invalids, sick soldiers and martyrs' relatives in the area./.
