On the morning of June 2, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and a working delegation including leaders of the Department of Transport, Planning and Investment, Construction, Natural Resources and Environment, Dong Nam Economic Zone and the Provincial People's Committee Office inspected the construction progress of Wharf No. 5 and 6 at Cua Lo Port invested by Tuan Loc Construction Joint Stock Company. Also working were representatives of the leaders of Cua Lo Town and Nghe An Port Authority. |
The project is designed to accommodate ships with a capacity of 30,000DWT. It is a container port, so it requires very high investment and construction techniques.
The investor plans to complete the project in August 2017, ahead of schedule (originally scheduled for November 2017). Currently, the bored pile part with 647 piles has been completed on a total area of 22,500m2. Each pile is driven 35m - 38m deep. The container yard part has 100% completed foundation, and is being paved with high-strength concrete blocks.

The investor spent over 400 billion VND on the items of the wharf and wharf No. 5. Along with wharfs No. 5 and 6, there is also the Cua Lo Port logistics area, with a total area of 23.4 hectares. The wharf is 450m long and 40m wide, capable of receiving 2 ships with a capacity of 30,000 tons at the same time. The total investment of the project is 1,180 billion VND.
Working with the provincial delegation, Cua Lo Port Company Limited and investor Tuan Loc Construction Joint Stock Company proposed that Nghe An province and units and localities develop a plan to open a road to the port area 5,6. Because the port construction progress is accelerating, it may exceed the schedule, but the access road is currently shared with berths 1,2,3,4. If there are many goods and vehicles entering to load and unload, it will be overloaded, causing congestion.

Regarding the access road to the port, in the immediate future, Cua Lo town needs to study the route serving the port exploitation before the province invests in the road to berths 5 and 6. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant agencies to strengthen coordination and accompany investors to ensure the waterway and legal procedures for the new port to come into operation.
