(Baonghean.vn) - Typhoon No. 2 has caused significant damage to irrigation works in the province, and the authorities and people are currently working actively to repair the damage.
To date, over 8,700 meters of canals and ditches have been eroded and buried, 400 meters of embankments have collapsed, 8 spillway bridges have been eroded, 3 spillways have been damaged, 7 small reservoirs and dams have been damaged by landslides, and more than 100 water wheels have been washed away…
In addition, several rural road systems and many rural culverts were washed away in the mountainous districts. The reinforced canal systems suffered particularly severe damage, concentrated in the districts of Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Quy Chau, and Que Phong.

Mr. Pham Huu Van, Deputy Head of the Provincial Irrigation Department, said: Immediately after the storm subsided, localities mobilized forces to repair irrigation works.
Tuong Duong district has mobilized hundreds of laborers to temporarily repair the irrigation bridge in Yen Hoa commune, and nearly 1 km of canals buried under debris in Tam Thai, Nga My, and Tam Hop communes have been cleared.
Con Cuong district has mobilized communes to temporarily repair 4 irrigation spillways in Thach Ngan and Lang Khe communes, and cleared about 300 meters of buried canals in Mon Son and Luc Da communes.
In severely damaged areas, local authorities are constructing temporary canals to drain floodwaters from rice paddies and temporarily repairing irrigation spillways that also serve as roads. Simultaneously, plans are in place to ensure the safety of reservoirs, irrigation dams, ongoing irrigation projects, and projects undergoing repairs.
