Container truck driver robbed while blindfolded and tied up, 27 tons of cargo stolen.

The Tien Giang Provincial Police are investigating and verifying the alleged robbery in which a container truck driver was blindfolded, tied up, and robbed of over 27 tons of goods.

On May 29th, the Criminal Police Department of Tien Giang Provincial Police and the My Tho City Police conducted a scene investigation to clarify the suspected case of a container truck being broken into by robbers who overpowered the driver and stole over 27 tons of goods.

Police in Phuoc Thanh commune, My Tho city, are taking statements from the driver who was robbed.

Mr. Tran Minh Dung (born in 1987), residing in Tan Binh commune, La Ri district, Binh Thuan province, was driving a container truck with license plate 51D - 048.27 belonging to PNT Transport Co., Ltd. (Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City) alone, transporting over 27 tons of soybean meal from Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to deliver to a customer in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province.

Upon arriving at the Song May Industrial Zone (Dong Nai province), the driver stopped to sleep overnight. At around 3:00 AM on May 29th, two armed robbers broke in, overpowered the driver, blindfolded him, and tied his hands and feet tightly before stealing the vehicle.

Authorities are examining the crime scene.

The robbers drove the vehicle themselves and stole over 27 tons of goods worth more than 300 million VND. At around 8:00 AM on May 29th, the robbers stopped the container truck on National Highway 1 in Phuoc Thanh commune, My Tho City, and fled.

After struggling for some time, driver Tran Minh Dung finally managed to remove the tape covering his eyes, shouted for people to come and untie him, and reported the incident to the police.
