Airport operators argue that women often travel with children, so they need more space for entering and exiting the airport, as well as for loading and unloading luggage.
However, some critics have called the decision sexist and outdated. Irina Izotovam, a social activist in Russia, shared: “Highlighting this area with pink paint might create the feeling of territory reserved for female drivers, but nowadays men also have responsibilities for childcare, not just mothers.”
One female driver also disagreed with the decision. She said, "I really don't understand who came up with this idea."
The airport stated that it would take into account passenger feedback and consider whether or not to retain the parking area reserved for women.
