Russian airport builds separate parking lot for women

The airport director said women need more space and time when parking because they often have small children with them.

However, some have criticised the decision as sexist and outdated. “Highlighting the area with pink paint may give the impression that it is the exclusive domain of female drivers, but nowadays men are also responsible for taking care of children, not just mothers,” said Irina Izotovam, a social activist in Russia.

A female driver also disagreed with this decision. She said: “I really don’t understand who came up with this idea.”

The airport said it would take feedback from passengers and consider whether to keep the women-only parking area.
