Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's Latin music track reached 4.6 billion streams on streaming services on July 19th.
Universal Music Latin Entertainment has confirmed that the original and remix versions of Despacito have surpassed the records of Justin Bieber's Sorry (4.38 billion streams) and Ed Sheeran's Shape Of You (4.07 billion streams).
Despacito has also reached 2.6 billion views on YouTube. The song is expected to surpass the achievements of Gangnam Style by Psy (2.9 billion views) and See You Again by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa (2.93 billion views).
Luis Fonsi shared that he was very surprised by the success of Despacito. When writing Despacito, Luis simply wanted to create a song that people could dance to.
