(Baonghean.vn) - In the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination,Bac Yen Thanh High School is one of the top schools in the province in terms of the number of students achieving high scores. Among them, Tran Thi Dieu Khanh, class 12A1, is a prime example. The student achieved the highest exam score, with a total score of 29.5 in Block A (Mathematics 10 points, Physics 9.5, and Chemistry 10). With these results, Dieu Khanh is hoping to apply to the Fire and Rescue Police University.

From Bac Yen Thanh High School, we, along with our homeroom teacher of class 12A1, Nguyen Huu Thanh, traveled over 10km along village roads to visit the home of Tran Thi Dieu Khanh in Chau Linh hamlet, Duc Thanh commune.

In their time-worn, single-story house, unable to hide their joy and pride, Mr. Tran Duc Chung and Mrs. Phan Thi Xuyen said: "Since we learned that our child achieved high scores, the house has been bustling with activity. Teachers, relatives, and friends have come to celebrate and congratulate us, and we feel very proud."

"Our family circumstances are difficult; our income mainly comes from rice and potatoes, livestock farming, and gardening. But my wife and I are determined to create the best possible conditions for our children to get an education so they won't suffer later in life, unlike us parents who work tirelessly all day and still don't have much left over."

Out of love and respect for her hardworking parents who toiled from dawn till dusk in the fields, Tran Thi Dieu Khanh always strived her best, overcoming all difficulties and challenges to achieve high results throughout her years in school.

Dieu Khanh is the youngest daughter in the family. She's small in stature, but well-behaved and hardworking. The distance from her home to school is over 10 kilometers, but she persistently cycles to school early in the morning, stays at her homeroom teacher's house for lunch, cycles back home in the afternoon, and spends her evenings reading. She wakes up early to study before going to school without complaining or comparing herself to her friends.

With her diligent and hardworking nature, coupled with her intelligence, Dieu Khanh consistently maintained excellent academic performance and won high awards in district and provincial-level student competitions. She was also an enthusiastic academic leader in her class.

In the 2015-2016 school year, she won the Encouragement Award for excellent students in Mathematics at the provincial level and a Bronze Medal in Chess at the national level. Throughout her three years of high school, Dieu Khanh consistently achieved excellent academic results, with her end-of-year average always ranging from 9.5 to 9.9 points.

When asked about her study secrets, Dieu Khanh said: "For me, it's mainly self-study. I have to study while also ensuring my health, so every night I choose the best time for my health, avoiding staying up too late. I mainly wake up early to study because it's easier to absorb information."

My favorite subject is Math, so from the moment I entered 10th grade, I set myself the goal of excelling in Math and other science subjects. Besides studying from textbooks, I also went online, borrowed books from teachers and friends, and chose to solve challenging and interesting math problems to accumulate more knowledge.

Even though she knew she had achieved high scores, during these days Dieu Khanh still took advantage of every opportunity to help her family with tasks within her capabilities, helping her mother with housework, tending to fruit trees, and picking wild greens for her mother to sell at the market.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh, a teacher at Bac Yen Thanh High School, said: "I am very proud to be the homeroom teacher of class 12A1, a class with a high spirit of unity and excellent academic performance. In the recent exam, 16 students in the class scored 27 points or higher, including 7 perfect scores of 10. Among them, Dieu Khanh achieved the highest score with 29.5 points."

Throughout my teaching career, I visited Diệu Khanh's home many times and learned about her family's circumstances. Her parents are farmers, and their financial situation is not affluent, but she is very self-motivated and has a strong desire to improve in her studies.

Whether at school or at home, she always studies systematically, with clear goals. If she doesn't understand something, she asks her teacher and discusses it thoroughly with her friends. In class, she always helps her classmates, is well-liked by everyone, and I'm not surprised by her results today.

"That's the result of her hard work, dedication, and eagerness to learn. With a learning method suited to her abilities and family circumstances, Dieu Khanh has always been a leading figure in academics and training at Bac Yen Thanh High School."

Although both brothers are in the medical field (the eldest is a fourth-year student at the Military Medical University; the second is currently a second-year student at Hanoi Medical University), the goal ofTran Thi Dieu Khanh was able to study atFirefighting Police UniversityTo lessen the burden on their families, ease the hardships of their parents, and later, after graduation, they can contribute their intellect to building their homeland and country.
