Poor student with 29.5 points dreams of becoming a fire police officer

With the results achieved, Dieu Khanh is planning to apply to the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police University.

From Bac Yen Thanh High School, we and the homeroom teacher of class 12A1, Nguyen Huu Thanh, traveled more than 10km on village roads to visit Tran Thi Dieu Khanh's house in Chau Linh hamlet, Duc Thanh commune.

In the house that has been stained by time, unable to hide their joy and pride, Mr. Tran Duc Chung and his wife, Ms. Phan Thi Xuyen, said: "Since the day they found out that their child got a high score, the house has always been crowded with joy. Teachers, siblings, and friends have come to celebrate and congratulate the family, making them very proud.

The family's circumstances are also difficult, the main income comes from rice, potatoes, livestock, and gardening, but my husband and I are determined to create the best conditions for our children to study and earn a living so that they will have less hardship in the future, unlike our parents who work hard all day but still have nothing left over.

Sympathizing with her parents who worked hard day and night in the fields, Tran Thi Dieu Khanh always tried her best, overcoming all difficulties and challenges to achieve high results throughout her years at school.

Dieu Khanh is the youngest daughter in the family, small, but well-behaved and hard-working. The distance from home to school is more than 10 kilometers, but she still perseveres, cycling to school early in the morning, staying at her homeroom teacher's house at noon, cycling home in the afternoon, reading books in the evening, waking up early to study and then going to school without making excuses or comparing herself with her friends.

With her hard-working and diligent nature, combined with her intelligence, Dieu Khanh always maintains her academic achievements and wins high prizes in district and provincial competitions for excellent students. She is an active student leader in class.

In the 2015-2016 school year, she won the Encouragement Prize for excellent students in Mathematics at the provincial level and the National Bronze Medal in Chess. During her three years of studying at high school, Dieu Khanh was always an excellent student, with an average score at the end of the year always reaching 9.5 - 9.9 points.

When mentioning the secret to studying, Dieu Khanh said: For me, it is mainly self-study. I have to study but also ensure my health, so every night I choose the best time for my health, not staying up too late, but studying mainly by waking up early so that studying is easier.

My favorite subject is Math, so since entering 10th grade, I set myself the goal of being good at Math and learning other natural sciences. Besides studying from books, I also go online, borrow books from teachers and friends to choose difficult and interesting problems to accumulate more knowledge.

Even though she knows she has high scores, these days Dieu Khanh still takes advantage of every moment to help her family with tasks within her capacity, helping her mother with housework, taking care of fruit trees, and picking pennywort for her mother to take to the market to sell.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh - teacher of Bac Yen Thanh High School said: "I am very proud because I am the homeroom teacher of class 12A1, a group with high solidarity and good learning spirit. In the recent exam, the class had 16 students who scored 27 points or more, 7 of them scored 10 points. Among them, Dieu Khanh scored the highest with 29.5 points.

During the teaching process, I went to Dieu Khanh's house many times and learned about her family's situation. Her parents were both farmers and her living conditions were not very good, but she was very self-disciplined and had a spirit of progress in her studies.

Whether at school or at home, I always have a methodical way of studying, with clear goals. If I don't understand or am not clear, I will ask the teacher, discuss with my friends to the end. In class, I always help my friends, am loved by everyone and I have the results like today, I am really not surprised.

That is the result of her efforts, hard work and love of learning. With a learning method suitable to her ability and family circumstances, Dieu Khanh is always the leader in studying and training at Bac Yen Thanh High School."
