The U.S. has indicated it may resume conducting limited interviews at its three consulates in Russia for those seeking U.S. visas.

The US recently temporarily suspended issuing non-immigrant visas to Russia after Moscow ordered the US to reduce its diplomatic staff to 455. The US stated that it had to withdraw consular staff specializing in visa processing.

At that time, the US announced that it would begin conducting visa interviews at its embassy in Moscow and would not issue visas at its consulates in Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Vladivostok.

However, a diplomatic cable sent to US missions abroad, obtained by the Associated Press, states that "limited visa services" resumed on September 1st.
