Impersonating Viettel employees to commit fraud.

Loan and Thuan introduced themselves as Viettel employees who had come to rent land to deploy a Wi-Fi broadcasting system.But in reality, it was a scam to steal property.

On August 12th, sources from the Criminal Investigation Agency of Thoi Binh District Police, Ca Mau Province, reported that they are temporarily detaining two individuals for investigation into the crime of fraud and appropriation of property.

Accordingly, the suspects are Do Thi Loan (28 years old, residing in Ta An Khuong Dong commune, Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province) and Nguyen Thanh Thuan (29 years old, from Dong Nai province).

According to initial information, on August 11th, residents of Hamlet 9, Thoi Binh town (Ca Mau province) reported that two individuals claiming to be Viettel employees were renting land to deploy a Wifi broadcasting system for a contract price of 240 million VND.

However, customers must advance Viettel 11.9 million VND in order to receive many attractive gifts from Viettel.

Noticing something unusual, the residents became vigilant and reported it to the police. Immediately afterward, the Thoi Binh Town Police invited the two suspects to the station for questioning and investigation. During questioning, the two suspects admitted to their fraudulent activities.

The Thoi Binh District Police are currently continuing their investigation to clarify the incident and are also asking anyone who is a victim of the two suspects to report to the authorities.
