South Korea: Protests against THAAD deployment turn into clashes
Residents of South Korea's Gansan-pukto province took to the streets to protest against the deployment of US missile defense systems in the country, a protest that turned into clashes with police.

About 400 residents of a village in Sondju county, where additional complexes are planned, gathered in front of the local government headquarters, Yonhap news agency reported.
Police tried to push protesters away from the building but protesters forced their way in and a fight began.
According to preliminary data, there were victims, but their condition is unknown.
Previously, in the context of North Korea's nuclear test over the weekend, on September 6, Seoul announced the deployment of four more missile launch systems from the US THAAD missile shield complex in South Korea.
Additional elements of the missile defense system will be deployed by US Forces Korea at a new base in Sondju, 300 km south of Seoul.
