A 7-year-old girl dressed as an old man singing traditional Vietnamese folk songs gave Xuan Bac goosebumps.
The comedian commented that many current Xam singing artists are not as good as Tu Thanh when she transforms into Ha Thi Cau.
The first episode of the "Kids' Familiar Faces" show aired on the evening of August 18th. Seven-year-old Tú Thanh transformed into the late artist Hà Thị Cầu. The young contestant was made up to look older. While singing, she mimicked chewing betel nut and playing the two-stringed fiddle. With lyrics about the nurturing love of her parents, Tú Thanh emphasized each word clearly, conveying emotion through every line: "Mother and father, with their weak legs and soft hands / I repay them with food and milk so as not to burden them / Raising me to be healthy and beautiful / So that when they are old and frail, they can rely on me..."
Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac repeatedly expressed his admiration while watching the performance. He said he "lost control" of the young girl's singing style and enunciation. The comedian suggested that many Xam singers in Hanoi today might not be able to sing as well as Tu Thanh. The judge praised Tu Thanh's ability to memorize the lyrics and said that he had learned the song 25 times and still couldn't memorize it.
