(Baonghean.vn) - With the storm making landfall and high tides causing waves nearly 10 meters high, many sections of the sea dykes in the coastal area of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) have been breached and are at risk of collapsing. Thousands of people are currently reinforcing the dykes.

In Quynh Thanh commune, Quynh Luu district, Mr. Ho Xuan Xuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said that at 1 PM, the high tide peaked along with rainwater from upstream, threatening the river dike. The commune mobilized hundreds of people along with the district police force to reinforce the dike. By 3 PM, the tide began to recede, and the dike was safe. Many people breathed a sigh of relief because if the dike had broken, the entire shrimp farming area of the commune would have been flooded, causing damage worth tens of billions of dong.
