In Quynh Thanh commune, Quynh Luu district, Mr. Ho Xuan Xuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said that at 1:00 p.m., the peak tide and rainwater from upstream threatened the river dike. The commune mobilized hundreds of people along with the district police force to protect the dike. By 3:00 p.m., the tide began to slow down and the dike was safe. Many people breathed a sigh of relief because if the dike broke, the entire shrimp pond area of the commune would be flooded, causing tens of billions of dong in damage.
