"We have developed an anti-drone gun. It is capable of suppressing GSM signals for mobile phones as well as WiFi signals in the 2.4 and 5.6 GHz frequency bands," Sputnik quoted Konstantin Abashkin, deputy director of Zala Aero Group, a subsidiary of the Kalashnikov concern, on August 22.

Named REX-1, this weapon was first unveiled at Russia's Army-2017 defense exhibition, held from August 22 to 27. Kalashnikov Concern stated that the REX-1 can be used for a variety of purposes, from personal security to maintaining safety in crowded places.

The REX-1's ability to jam radio signals causes UAVs to lose control, crash on the spot, or return to their starting point. Additionally, when police detect an object suspected of being an improvised explosive device, they can use the REX-1 to block all nearby cell phone signals, disabling the possibility of remote bomb detonation.

The REX-1 was also equipped with a laser sight, a GPS jamming module, a GLONASS transceiver, and a small camera.
