Kim Jong-un is a very private person when it comes to his personal life. Very little information about him and his family is known to the outside world.

Kim Jong-un's wife is named Ri Sol-ju. North Korea announced their leader's marriage in July 2012, a few weeks after the two first appeared together in a photograph.

Reports suggest that Kim Jong-un and Ri Sol-ju were married in 2009, just before he succeeded his father as the supreme leader of North Korea.

"The late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il hastily arranged a marriage for his youngest son after he suffered a stroke in 2008," the Express quoted Cheong Seong-chang, an analyst at the Sejong Institute in Seoul, as saying.

Ri Sol Ju has been identified as a member of the Unhasu Orchestra, but very few details about this woman have been made public.
