The Mazda CX-3 arrived in Vietnam in October.

Following the success of the CX-5, Truong Hai is exploring the market by introducing its younger sibling, the CX-3, at the upcoming Vietnam Motor Show.

Besides the Chevrolet Trax, the Mazda CX-3 is the second B-segment crossover to appear at the Vietnam Motor Show 2016 from October 5-9. While the Trax is preparing for launch, a representative from Truong Hai (the distributor) stated that the company has no plans to bring the car to market yet; the car appearing at the exhibition is for display purposes only.

The CX-3 is similar to the CX-5 and CX-9, all using the Kodo design language, a styling approach that, at first glance, makes it difficult to distinguish between the two vehicles. The CX-3 differs from its larger siblings in the C-pillar, which is painted black seamlessly with the windshield, a technique used by some manufacturers to make the car look longer.

This compact crossover is developed based on the Mazda2 hatchback, with dimensions...It is 4,275 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, 1,550 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,570 mm.

The CX-3's interior is no different from the Mazda2, from the geometric layout to the placement of the function buttons. In Thailand, the car is equipped with the MZD Connect infotainment system, a 7-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, and leather seats with contrasting stitching.

The CX-5 comes with two engine options: a 2-liter SkyActiv-G petrol engine producing 156 horsepower and 204 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter SkyActiv-D diesel engine delivering 105 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard.

Safety features include collision warning systems, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, and a rearview camera.

The success of the CX-5 and Mazda3 shows that Vietnamese people prefer Mazda's design and features. The CX-3 has the momentum to enter the market, but the challenge is how to take market share from the EcoSport, which currently has a dominant position.
