Mazda CX-3 appears in Vietnam in October

After the success of CX-5, Truong Hai is exploring the market by introducing its younger brother CX-3 at the upcoming Vietnam Motor Show.

Besides Chevrolet Trax, Mazda CX-3 is the second B-size crossover that will appear at Vietnam Motor Show 2016 from October 5-9. While Trax is preparing to go on sale, Truong Hai representative said that the company has no plans to bring the car to the market, the car appearing at the exhibition is only for display purposes.

The CX-3 is similar to the CX-5 and CX-9, both using the Kodo design language, a style that makes it difficult to distinguish between the two cars at first glance. The CX-3 differs from its predecessors in the C-pillar, where the black paint is applied to the windshield, a trick that makes the car look longer that some manufacturers are applying.

The compact crossover is based on the Mazda2 hatchback, with dimensions4,275 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, 1,550 mm high and 2,570 mm wheelbase.

The CX-3's interior is no different from the Mazda2, from the geometric layout to the location of the function buttons. In Thailand, the car is equipped with the MZD Connect infotainment system, 7-inch touch screen, automatic air conditioning, leather seats with contrasting stitching.

The CX-5 engine has two versions, the 2-liter SkyActiv-G gasoline with 156 horsepower and 204 Nm of maximum torque and the 1.5-liter SkyActiv-D diesel with 105 horsepower and 270 Nm. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard.

The success of CX-5 and Mazda3 shows that Vietnamese people prefer Mazda's design and equipment. CX-3 has the momentum to enter the market, but the difficulty is how to take market share from EcoSport, which is currently alone.
