Vinamilk was named the most reputable food company in Vietnam in 2017.

(Baonghean) - On October 26th, Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company officially announced the Top 10 most reputable food and beverage companies in Vietnam in 2017, with Vinamilk Joint Stock Company ranking first in this Top 10.

The Top 10 Most Reputable Companies in the Food and Beverage Industry ranking is the result of independent research by Vietnam Report, published for the first time this year. However, since 2012, Vietnam Report has used the Media Coding method to calculate the reputation score of brands in the media. This ranking is built on scientific and objective principles.

According to Vietnam Report, Vinamilk is the company chosen by most consumers and experts participating in the survey to hold the number one position in terms of brand awareness, and also has the largest amount of media coverage and influence currently. Specifically for milk and dairy products, Vinamilk is the brand that is overwhelmingly chosen compared to its competitors in the industry, far surpassing the second-ranked milk brand with a rating of 30% compared to 18%.

Companies are evaluated and ranked based on 3 main criteria: (1) Financial capacity - shown in the most recent audited financial report (total assets, total revenue, after-tax profit, capital efficiency, etc.) (weighted at 30% of the score); (2) Media reputation assessed by Media Coding - coding articles about the company on influential media channels (30% of the score); (3) Online survey on customer awareness and satisfaction with the company's products/services; Expert survey assessing the position of companies in the industry; and Business survey conducted in September 2017 on market size, labor, capital, revenue growth rate, profit, operational plan for 2017, etc. (40% of the score).

Vinamilk 100% fresh milk products have been certified by Nielsen Market Research Company as the leading brand in the fresh milk segment in 2015, 2016, and the first seven months of 2017 in terms of both sales and production volume. Vinamilk is also recognized by Forbes Vietnam magazine as the most valuable brand in Vietnam with a value of 1.7 billion USD.

Not only enjoying domestic trust, 2017 was also a year in which Vinamilk reaped outstanding titles and awards on international rankings: it was included in Forbes Global's list of the 2000 best listed companies in the world (Global 2000) and ranked 8th among the 300 best companies in Asia as selected by Nikkei magazine.

Currently, Vinamilk operates 10 large-scale farms, all with dairy cows imported from Australia, the United States, and New Zealand. Vinamilk's farm system spans across Vietnam, proudly boasting the status of the first farms in Southeast Asia to achieve the Global Good Agricultural Practices (Global GAP) international standard. The organic dairy farm in Da Lat, inaugurated in March 2017, is the first organic dairy farm in Vietnam to achieve European Organic certification from the Control Union organization (Netherlands).

To date, the total number of cows supplying milk to the company, including Vinamilk's own farms and farmers who have signed milk supply contracts with Vinamilk, is over 120,000, providing approximately 750 tons of raw fresh milk to produce more than 3 million glasses of milk per day.

With plans to develop new farms, the company will increase Vinamilk's total herd size from its own farms and those of farming households to approximately 160,000 cows by 2018 and around 200,000 cows by 2020. The projected raw milk production by 2020 is expected to more than double, reaching 1,500-1,800 tons per day, ensuring an abundant supply of pure raw milk for millions of Vietnamese families.

In addition to 13 dairy factories spread throughout Vietnam, Vinamilk has also invested in building the Angkor dairy factory in Cambodia (100% owned by Vinamilk), holds 22.8% of shares in the Miraka dairy factory (New Zealand), owns 100% of the shares in the Driftwood factory (USA), and has invested in a subsidiary in Poland to serve as a gateway for Vinamilk's commercial activities in Europe.

Vinamilk's products are currently available in more than 40 countries worldwide, including Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, China, Turkey, Russia, Canada, the United States, and Australia. Vinamilk's export turnover increased from approximately US$30 million in 1998 to nearly US$260 million in 2016. The entire production process of the factory meets GMP standards and stringent international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 14000, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000, with GMP being a mandatory standard for pharmaceutical manufacturing plants and encouraged for application by food companies in general.
