Vinh oranges officially get electronic traceability stamps

(Baonghean.vn) - On November 8, in the orange growing area of ​​Quy Hop district, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the Vinh Orange Association to officially print and affix electronic traceability stamps of Vinh orange origin to a number of organizations and individuals producing oranges in Quy Hop district.

The first two units to receive the stamp are Tan Thanh General Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative and Phung Huyen Orange Production and Service Cooperative in Minh Hop commune, Quy Hop district.

These two cooperatives registered to print 120,000 traceability stamps for Vinh oranges to stick on products and sell on the market.

Along with the labeling of traceability stamps for the above two cooperatives, the Department of Science and Technology has organized instructions on printing and labeling electronic traceability stamps for Vinh oranges for a number of organizations and individuals producing Vinh oranges in Quy Hop district.

The Department of Science and Technology guides organizations and individuals producing oranges on how to register for food safety eligibility documents and grant the right to print and affix stamps; how to register to print stamps based on the actual oranges available at each facility and how to use the software to trace the origin of electronic stamps on smartphone applications.

Mr. Duong Dinh Tan - Chairman of Tan Thanh General Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative said: After affixing the traceability stamp on the product, the cooperative's oranges are sold on the market at 50,000 VND/kg. The cooperative's orange consumption markets are mainly in Vinh City, Hanoi and Thanh Hoa.

According to Decision No. 65/2017/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on promulgating the Regulations on management and use of Vinh orange geographical indications for orange fruit products of Nghe An province, the Vinh orange geographical indication traceability stamp must contain the following mandatory information: Product name, orange variety, packaging and preservation specifications, harvest date; expiry date; quality classification, warning information. Production process, production address, area, quantity, planting time. Name of representative organization, individual, transaction address, transaction phone number, email and distribution information (if any).

Printing of traceability stamps for Vinh oranges is done by qualified organizations and individuals or the Department of Standards and Quality Measurement. Every year, one month before the orange harvest, organizations and individuals have been granted the right to use the geographical area based on the cultivated area and expected productivity to register for the traceability code and the number of traceability stamps used during the year with the Department of Standards and Quality Measurement.
