Cam Vinh officially receives electronic traceability labels.
(Baonghean.vn) - On November 8th, in the orange growing area of Quy Hop district, the Department of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Vinh Orange Association, officially printed and affixed electronic traceability labels to Vinh oranges for a number of organizations and individuals producing oranges in Quy Hop district.
In 2017, Nghe An province supported the printing and labeling of 550,000 Vinh oranges.
"New opportunities for Vinh oranges with traceability labels."
The first two units to receive the stamp were Tan Thanh General Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative and Phung Huyen Orange Production and Service Cooperative in Minh Hop commune, Quy Hop district.
These two cooperatives registered to print 120,000 traceability labels for Vinh oranges to affix to their products before selling them on the market.

Along with affixing traceability labels to the two cooperatives mentioned above, the Department of Science and Technology also organized training on printing and affixing electronic traceability labels to Vinh oranges for a number of organizations and individuals producing Vinh oranges in Quy Hop district.
Organizations and individuals producing oranges are guided by the Department of Science and Technology on how to register for food safety eligibility and obtain permission to print and affix labels; how to register for label printing based on the actual oranges available at each facility; and how to use the electronic label traceability software on smartphone applications.

Mr. Duong Dinh Tan, Chairman of Tan Thanh General Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative, said: After attaching traceability labels to the products, the cooperative's oranges are sold on the market at 50,000 VND/kg. The main markets for the cooperative's oranges are Vinh City, Hanoi, and Thanh Hoa.

According to Decision No. 65/2017/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the promulgation of the Regulations on the management and use of the geographical indication for Vinh oranges for orange products of Nghe An province, the traceability label for Vinh oranges must contain the following mandatory information: Product name, orange variety, packaging and storage specifications, harvest date; expiration date; quality classification, warning information. Production process, production address, area, quantity, planting time. Name of the representative organization or individual, transaction address, transaction phone number, email and distribution information (if any).

The printing of traceability labels for Vinh oranges is carried out by qualified organizations and individuals or by the Sub-Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality. Annually, one month before the orange harvest, organizations and individuals granted geographical usage rights, based on their cultivated area and projected yield, register for traceability codes and the number of traceability labels to be used during the year with the Sub-Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality.
