On November 9, the Border Guard of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province directed the Ben Da Border Guard Station (Vung Tau City) to contact and guide fishing boat BD 93711 TS to bring suspect Lam Tan Dang to Con Dao district to hand over to the Con Dao Border Guard Station to continue investigating and clarifying the murder.

Authorities are working with the fishing boat owner.

Initial information said that at 7:30 a.m. on November 9, Ben Da Border Guard Station received a report from Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung (born in 1970, residing in Hiep Tung commune, Nam Can district, Ca Mau province) about crew member Nguyen Tuan Kiet (Mr. Tung's son, born in 1996, residing in Thanh Tung commune, Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province), on fishing boat with license plate BD 93711 TS, being stabbed to death by a fellow boatman at sea.

Through working with Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam (born in 1963, residing at 588/33 Tran Phu, Ward 5, Vung Tau City), the representative of the owner of fishing boat BD 93711 TS, said that at around 2:00 p.m. on November 8, the crew members on fishing boat BD 93711 TS woke up and did not see crew member Nguyen Tuan Kiet, so they checked the crew members on the boat about Kiet's absence.

When asked about crew member Lam Tan Dang (born in 1993, residing in Vinh Quoi commune, Nga Nam town, Soc Trang province), this person said that he stabbed Mr. Kiet to death and pushed his body into the sea. After that, the crew members on the ship tried to control and arrest Lam Tan Dang, but he ran to the back of the fishing boat, carrying two sharp Thai knives and jumped into the sea, threatening to stab anyone to death if they jumped down.

A moment later, the crew members on fishing boat BD 93711 TS controlled the subject Dang and brought him onto the boat.

Currently, Ben Da Border Guard Station is contacting fishing boat BD 93711 TS to bring the suspect to Con Dao to continue the investigation.
