Girl fined for fabricating child kidnapping stories to gain likes.
Thanh Hoa Economic Police discovered that a young woman had posted false information about a child abduction case in the area.
On November 20th, the Inspectorate of the Department of Information and Communications of Thanh Hoa province announced that it had fined Tran Thi Huong (24 years old, residing in Thieu Hoa district) 5 million VND for spreading rumors about child abduction on social media, causing public panic.
Previously, Thanh Hoa economic police discovered a Facebook account named Huong Tran that had posted an article recounting a child abduction incident that occurred in Vinh Minh commune, Vinh Loc district.
Authorities determined that the kidnapping story was fictitious. Ms. Huong admitted to the police that she had obtained the information from an unknown Facebook account, edited it, and posted it on her personal page to gain likes.
In addition to being fined, the girl was forced to remove the false information.
