Girl fined for making up child kidnapping news to 'get likes'
Thanh Hoa Economic Police discovered a girl posting false information about a local child kidnapping case.
On November 20, the Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Thanh Hoa province announced that he had just imposed an administrative fine of 5 million VND on Tran Thi Huong (24 years old, living in Thieu Hoa district) for spreading rumors of child kidnapping on social networks, causing public panic.
Previously, Thanh Hoa economic police discovered a Facebook account named Huong Tran posting an article recounting a child kidnapping incident that occurred in Vinh Minh commune, Vinh Loc district.
Authorities determined that the kidnapping was not real. Ms. Huong admitted to the police that she had taken information from an unknown Facebook account, edited it, and posted it on her personal page to attract likes.
