On the morning of December 6, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police prosecuted Ms. Pham Thi Xuan (65 years old) for murder, according to Article 93 of the Penal Code.

Colonel Khuong Duy Oanh, Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, said the autopsy results determined the cause of death of the 20-day-old victim was suffocation.

"The child's airway was blocked," said Colonel Oanh, adding that the investigation agency determined that Ms. Xuan alone caused the incident with her grandchild.

Police said that on the evening of November 25, Ms. Xuan was watching a movie while holding her sleeping grandchild on a wooden bench in the living room. The child's mother was working in the bedroom. Her son, Mr. Thuan, went to pick up his eldest son from a martial arts class about 500 meters from their home.

When the child stirred awake, Mrs. Xuan stood up and walked to lull him back to sleep. Because she was still watching TV, when she walked, she tripped and fell forward.She slipped and caused her grandson to fall to the floor. She also fell on the child.

Seeing her grandchild motionless, Mrs. Xuan put the body in a bag and made up a story about a masked man and woman breaking into the house, drugging the child, and stealing the child. The next day, Mrs. Xuan secretly put the body in a sack and took it to the garbage dump to dispose of it.

According to Colonel Oanh, cThe investigation agency will clarify the nature of the case, especially the motive, purpose of the crime and other related details to conclude the exact crime. Thanh Hoa police affirmed that they will clarify other related contents as soon as possible.

While authorities were investigating this report, on November 27, the girl's body was discovered in a sack at the central landfill of Bim Son town, with her father's name and phone number written on the outside.

After three days of investigation, the police suspected that Ms. Xuan was the one who murdered her 20-day-old grandson and detained her.
