Nghe An: Driver prosecuted for overturning truck, killing female reporter

(Baonghean.vn)- A 27-year-old male driver was temporarily detained for three months for driving a truck that overturned and crushed a person to death.

On December 8, Hung Nguyen District Police (Nghe An) announced that the unit had prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Van Hap (born in 1990, residing in Dien Chau District) for 3 months for the crime of "Violating regulations on controlling road vehicles" under Article 202 of the Penal Code.

As reported, on the afternoon of December 1, at the intersection of Vinh city bypass road and residential road in Hung My commune (Hung Nguyen district), a serious accident occurred, killing one person and injuring two others.

According to verification at the above time, driver Nguyen Van Hap was driving a truck with Nghe An license plate on the bypass in the South-North direction. The vehicle reached the intersection area and encountered an obstacle in front, so he turned the wheel causing the vehicle to flip to the right and hit two motorbikes that were stopped on the inter-commune road waiting to cross the intersection.

The accident killed Ms. NTHT (born in 1979, residing in Hung My commune), working at the Radio and Television Station of Hung Nguyen district, who was on her way to work. The accident also injured two others.

After the accident, driver Hap went to the police station to present himself. That same night, the investigation agency executed a criminal detention order against the male driver.

Initial investigation determined that driver Hap's failure to control his speed was the cause of the accident. The incident is being clarified.
