Shining brightly as a "January Star"
(Baonghean.vn) - With a common trait of always striving and working hard both in their studies and actively leading in Youth Union and Student Association movements, the "January Stars" of Nghe An are contributing to building the image of dynamic, confident, and capable students in the province.
As the female leader of a department with a very vibrant youth union movement tradition, Hoang Thi Yen (class K37C, Early Childhood Education Department, Nghe An College of Education) has her own secret to building an increasingly strong youth union branch.

Passionate about extracurricular activities since high school, Yen enthusiastically participated in student union and association activities from the very beginning of her university years. As a talented performer, Yen was not only an active member of the dance team but also participated in directing and staging many school and faculty cultural performances for events organized by the university.
Sharing her secret to excelling as a "leader," Yen believes it's essential to continuously launch widespread movements across all student branches, while also understanding the thoughts and aspirations of student members to create movements and activities that are relevant to reality. Furthermore, a leader must be perceptive, assigning tasks appropriately so that each member has the opportunity to fully utilize their abilities; or, in managing small groups of members, by having the group leader as the main contact, one can mobilize other members to participate and respond.
In addition, in her capacity as Head of the Preschool Education Faculty Student Union and Class Secretary, Yen organized and implemented many practical and meaningful programs for the Student Union, such as "Students and Professional Ethics in Teaching," "Students and Traffic Safety," and "Folk Songs - Composition, Performance, and Choreography"...
Participating in Youth Union and Student Association activities requires a significant investment of time and effort. On peak days, after attending classes all day, she would spend the evenings organizing Youth Union activities and practicing for cultural performances, which was very demanding, yet Yen consistently remained among the top students in the school. She received scholarships every academic year. With her serious attitude towards learning, Yen consistently achieved the title of outstanding student and "5 Good Student" for many years. She was honored to be admitted to the Party in her second year, becoming the youngest Party member at that time.
Striving for excellence in studies
From her early school days, hearing the warm and friendly voices and seeing the kind gestures of her teachers, Dinh Thi Ngoc Hang (Class 55A, Department of Political Education, Vinh University) nurtured the determination to become a teacher. Since the age of 13, Hang has been tutoring children in her neighborhood. The class continues to this day with 17 students, ranging in age from grades 1 to 5. "I enjoy teaching, and being called 'teacher' by the children gives me even more motivation and passion for the profession," Hang confided.

To move forward and lay a solid foundation for her passion, from her early days at university, Hang set a clear path for herself and strived tirelessly. Outside of class, she independently researched, learned, and honed her knowledge. As a result, Hang consistently won high awards in professional competitions. In addition, Hang actively participated in student scientific research activities. With her research topic, "Improving the Quality of Scientific Research among Students at Vinh University," she hoped that scientific research would not be a burden or obligation, but rather an essential need for students.
Speaking about her "secret" to balancing work and studying while consistently achieving excellent academic results, Hang shared: "I don't have any special secret. It's just that I'm very focused in class and I learn using a method that focuses on understanding and internalizing knowledge immediately, so when I review, it doesn't take me much time. Outside of school, I participate in youth union and association activities. When you get used to balancing and planning your studies, self-improvement, and social work, that's when you learn soft skills like time management, teamwork and independent work, communication skills, perseverance, and patience in overcoming difficulties in any situation."Passionate about volunteering.
My first impression of Pham Thi Thu Ha (Accounting Class K9, Vinh University of Technology and Education) was that of a lively girl with a calm demeanor and the decisive gaze of a leader. Coming from a disadvantaged family, Ha had to be self-reliant, working part-time to cover her tuition fees in various jobs such as sales, serving, washing dishes, and tutoring. Ha said: “Perhaps it was the experience of working many jobs early on, understanding the hardships, that always motivated me to participate in volunteer activities, to have the opportunity to help those in need, to share, to broaden my knowledge, and to become more mature.”

Simple, practical, and "tiring but fun" have become the guiding principles for the volunteer activities that Ha leads. This is also the secret to how a youth union leader like this student can attract and gather young union members to participate. For Ha, the greatest "gain" from volunteering is not only the interesting experiences of new lands and new people, but also the emotional connection with the people in the places the volunteer group visits. Eagerly showing me the handwritten letters she received from children in remote areas, Ha said with sparkling eyes: "The things we do may not be grand, but when we read these handwritten letters, we understand how we have 'imprinted' our goodwill in the minds of the people, how much we are trusted and loved, and it further motivates us to go on volunteer trips."
Not only is she a pioneering female leader in volunteer activities, but in class, Ha is also a class president who consistently excels academically. Ha believes that if she tries hard, works diligently, and studies hard, she will overcome all difficulties, conquer knowledge, and realize her cherished dreams.
